Introduction:
The Board of Directors of the Agility Dog Association of Australia Ltd is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all dogs attending ADAA sanctioned activities.
Purpose:
The purpose of this Policy is to provide guidance to members and guests regarding collars and equipment that are acceptable for use at ADAA sanctioned activities.
Policy Statement:
ADAA Policy is to provide a safe environment for dogs to participate in ADAA sanctioned activities.
Definitions:
ADAA sanctioned activity – any event, workshop, competition or activity that is approved by ADAA.
Dog – a Dog in attendance at an ADAA sanctioned activity, whether or not registered on ADAA’s International Programme Register or Regular Programme Register.
Responsibilities:
Board of Directors – Ensure that all Attendees are aware of, and comply with this Policy.
Procedure:
- No ecollars, prong collars, check-chains or similar are allowed on Dogs at any ADAA sanctioned activities.
- No collar, other than fixed, may remain on a Dog whilst using agility equipment at ADAA sanctioned activities, excluding Competitions for Titles.
- A harness may not remain on a Dog whilst using agility equipment.
- No collar may remain on a Dog whilst competing at an ADAA Competition for Titles.
- Retractable leashes may not be used at ADAA sanctioned activities.
- Collars or harnesses must be of an appropriate size, strength, material and design for the individual Dog to provide effective control, but must not cause injury, pain or distress or restrict the Dog’s normal activities such as panting and drinking.
